Data Center Coalition Celebrates Successful Fourth Annual Virtual Blood Drive
Data Center Employees Pledge 970 Blood Donations to Serve Local Communities
Ashburn, VA (May 21, 2025) – Today, the Data Center Coalition announced the results of its fourth annual virtual blood drive campaign, #DataCenterSleevesUp, which ran from April 8 through May 19, 2025. During this virtual nationwide campaign, the data center industry logged a total of 970 pledges to donate blood, a 19% increase over DCC’s 2024 campaign.
DCC member companies utilized the American Red Cross “SleevesUp” and Vitalant Virtual Blood Drive platforms to track pledge donations as part of the #DataCenterSleevesUp2025 six-week virtual campaign. Member companies also held in-person blood drives and reported donation numbers to DCC as part of the final industry total.
“We are excited to see our #DataCenterSleevesUp campaign grow for the fourth consecutive year and we appreciate the continued support of our member companies in this important effort,” said Josh Levi, president of the Data Center Coalition. “Addressing blood supply shortages makes a difference for patients in need across the U.S. and we are grateful to the American Red Cross and Vitalant for their continued support of our annual campaign.”
Sixteen data center companies joined DCC in the 2025 campaign, including Aligned Data Centers, AWS, CloudHQ, Compass Datacenters, CoreSite (An American Tower Company), Digital Realty, EdgeConneX, Equinix, Google, Iron Mountain Data Centers, Microsoft, Prologis, QTS Data Centers, STACK Infrastructure, Stream Data Centers, and Vantage Data Centers.
Equinix registered the most pledges among participating member companies with 369. QTS registered 200 pledges and AWS registered 146.
QTS registered pledges from 13% of their reported U.S. employees. Compass registered 12% and Stream registered 10%.
In the first three years of the #DataCenterSleevesUp campaign, DCC member companies logged a total of 2,091 pledged blood donations. #DataCenterSleevesUp2025 brings the total pledged blood donations to 3,061 over a 4-year period (502 in 2022, 775 in 2023, 814 in 2024, and 970 in 2025), enough to potentially impact more than 9,100 lives.
