Role/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for  operating the  power, cooling, and various other systems of a facility that operates 24/7/365
  • Understand and Operate various facility power and cooling systems to include UPS’s, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switch’s, Switchgear, Chillers, Variable Frequency Drive’s, Motor Starters, Power Meters
  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance on CRAHs, AHUs, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, Plumbing, and Insulation
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control systems and equipment
  • Perform daily inspections of the critical equipment
  • Supports incident response and mitigation
  • Monitor critical power, cooling/environmental & support systems and facilities to meet or exceed up-time service levels
  • Perform maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operation of the data center heating and cooling systems and overall facility
  • Monitor, resolve and update all assigned service tickets. Including trouble tickets and customer installations of electrical and physical equipment
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment and inspect buildings, grounds, and all equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning operation
  • Proactively identify issues and take the needed steps to resolve them

 

Education: Associate’s degree or industry certifications preferred

  • A.A.S. Degree in Data Center Operations Specialization (Northern Virginia Community College)
  • Career Studies Certificate Degree in Data Center Operations (Northern Virginia Community College)

 

Experience Alternative: 

  • Electronics Technician preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment with VFD and DDC controls experience
  • Commercial HVAC Technician with chiller, water pump, and cooling tower experience
  • Facility engineering with critical infrastructure experience
  • Controls and Instrumentation Technician
  • Appropriate military training and service, such as the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
